Braxted Park,a beautiful and historic location in the heart of Essex
Originally from the estates of the Countess of Pembroke, Braxted Park is the largest walled private estate in the county. The large Queen Anne house, beautifully restored by Sir Allen Clark in the 1950’s, sits majestically at the end of a long sweeping drive. The house is flanked by two large lakes which host a plethora of wild fowl, rare birds and exotic fish. This beautiful estate can be enjoyed through corporate events, weddings, a cookery school, a golf club, sporting hospitality, office space & a partridge shoot.
Directions from London / Chelmsford
On A12 heading towards Colchester it is important to by-pass Witham completely. Ignore all signs off the A12 until you see the sign to Rivenhall and Silver End. The major landmark is the left turn off the A12 by a large disused pub called the Fox. Take this turning signed to Rivenhall and Great Braxted. If you get to the Kelvedon turn off you have gone too far.
Come to a T Junction: Turn Right following signs to Great Braxted and Witham. (You will see a brown sign for Braxted Park). Go under A12. Exactly 1 mile after taking the right turn and after going over a little hump backed bridge, you will encounter the Braxted Park Wall for the first time. Follow the sign to Braxted Park Estate (NOT Braxted Park Golf Course). i.e. follow road round to right leaving the wall on your left.
Exactly ½ mile later you will see the entrance to Braxted Park Estate. Enter the estate, come down the drive and park in the car park. The Estate Office can be found to the left of the archway closest to the main house.
