Given our enchanting setting beside the river, it goes without saying that Winchester House is extremely popular for Wedding Receptions. Moreover, as there are several churches within walking distance and, most conveniently, a Premier Travel Inn just on the north side of the bridge, it’s pretty likely that Winchester House will tick several of the essential boxes for your perfect day.

We have no problem with candles and you may provide your own drink, although reasonable ‘corkage’ charges do apply. Whilst we can assist you with cake makers, florists, photographers – in fact, anyone else you might require – you are, of course, welcome to source them all yourself.

When it comes to entertainment, although we prefer you to use our recommended DJs, if only because they know the venue and respect the noise constraints, you may use your own contacts. We will require them to visit us beforehand, and we will charge a small fee to cover the additional administration.

“Can you just move the Croquembouche half a centimetre to the left?”, asked the wedding organiser. Ahhhh, but of course, we replied through gritted teeth. How silly of us. That’s much better, and makes all the difference. Why didn’t we think of that?
Will you even need a wedding planner? We think probably not, at least as far the arrangements for the venue and the reception are concerned, since we know Winchester House better than they ever will. In that respect, we do everything that they do anyway and, quite apart from anything else, our advice is free.

Civil ceremony venue London
Not just for weddings, a civil ceremony can also be for Naming, Commitment, Partnership or Funeral, and all can be performed at Winchester House. We are licensed for up to 160 in the River Room or 40 in the Library. Our intimate atmosphere is surely a far more attractive option than some dreary old town hall.

Located close to the embankment in Putney, moments from Putney Pier, Putney Bridge and a short walk from Putney Bridge underground staion and Putney mainline rail station.

Parking near this location
Unless you’re talking about Boat Race Day (which is, not surprisingly, a parking nightmare), it’s generally not bad at all. There are usually plenty of places along the embankment which (after 6.30pm on Monday to Saturday and all day on Sunday) are free of charge. The residents’ bays are also free after 6.30pm. Further up river, parking becomes unrestricted. Be warned: unless your mode of transport is a boat, if you park on the embankment, make sure that there is not an imminent spring high tide.
