Private Dining

Hartwell House, lying in the vale of Aylesbury and just forty miles north west of London, is one of Buckinghamshire's most celebrated country houses. Built in the early seventeenth century for the Harpden family, the house has both Jacobean and Georgian features with outstanding decorative plaster-work and panelling.
The principal Dining Room, designed in 1988 in the style of eminent early 19th century architect, Sir John Soane, is the setting for the imaginative modern European cuisine which has seen the restaurant be awarded with 2 AA Rosettes.

Children over the age of 6 years are welcome in the restaurant and gentlemen are requested to wear smart attire, no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits or trainers please.

There are 2 private dining rooms, and 48 elegant bedrooms and suites. Why not try one of our Gourmet Stays, or your own bespoke dinner party?

Christmas at Hartwell
Christmas at Hartwell has always been a wonderful time to enjoy the festive season and the best of everything in this remarkable country house This marvellous atmosphere will prevail again this year at the magnificent home in exile of King Louis XVIII of France. We are offering a luxurious programme of dining and relaxation to please all tastes for our guests over Christmas. We will begin on Christmas Eve with a black tie reception in our stately drawing rooms followed by Christmas Carols by the fireside in the Great Hall and a splendid four-course dinner with selected wines. Although Christmas Day itself will be more informal, the dining will be no less impressive. Our Head Chef, Daniel Richardson has planned a sumptuous four-course luncheon, which will feature both perennial Christmas favourites as well as other winter delicacies. Once again, wines have been individually chosen to complement the courses. The Queen’s speech will be shown in our drawing room, with a serving of tea and Christmas cake. In the evening our guests will have the opportunity to sample the delights of our Christmas evening buffet. Boxing Day, will again offer tempting options from the restaurant, both at lunch time and at dinner for our fun Casino evening, whilst also offering guests the chance to relax and be pampered at Hartwell’s Spa or perhaps take a drive into the surrounding Buckinghamshire countryside and view the local hunt. Whatever you choose to do during your time with us we are sure that you will find Hartwell a relaxing and memorable location for your celebrations.
